Installation Instructions
Before you attempt a wiring harness installation, you must unhook the wind machine battery and turn the Manual-Off-Auto switch to the OFF position.
Step 1.
Disconnect the wind machine engine’s 12V battery.
Step 2
Connect the black ground wire to a ground source on the engine. Other ground wires are usually green or black.
Step 3
Connect the red wire to the bottom-middle contact of the MAN-OFF-AUTO switch on the wind machine gauge panel. You will need to remove the switch with a crescent wrench.
Step 4
Connect the brown wire to the bottom-left contact of the MAN-OFF-AUTO switch on the wind machine gauge panel. You will need to remove the switch with a crescent wrench.
Step 5
Connect the green wire to the magnetic pickup on the engine. The magnetic pickup measures engine RPM.
1. Identify the Mag Pickup sensor
2.Trace wires back to the Cascade autostart
3. The wire connected to Port 26 on the back of the cascade autostart is the wire we will splice into to read RPM.
Step 6
If there is anything connected to the Call to start port on the autostart we will need to disconnect the previously installed wire for the Altrac system to control the wind machine.
Murphy Cascade CD 101
Attach the white wire to port 12 on your autostart
Dynagen
Attach the white call-to-start wire from the Altrac wiring harness to the brown wire coming out of the PID controller. The PID controller will have the existing temperature probe attached and a display of the ambient air temperature. The brown wire should be removed from the PID controller and connected to the white call-to-start wire on the Altrac wiring harness.
Murphy ASM 150
Step 6
Reattach the wind machine battery.
Step 7
Connect the new wiring harness to the Altrac Station via the 12-pin connector on the control line.
HINT: You should tuck the connector up under the wind machine hood when you are finished installing to maximize weather protection.
Step 8
Connect temperature probe and any other sensors to appropriate connections.
Step 9
To run the wind machine you must have the Manual-Off-Auto switch in the ‘Auto’ position, and the autostart must be in AUTO mode and armed.
Step 10
Run the wind machine to ensure the Altrac is installed correctly. You should run the wind machine long enough to see an RPM reading.
